Edmonton — Edmonton’s going prehistoric again this summer.
The popular Walking with Dinosaurs show returns to Rexall Place during Capital Ex, with shows from Wednesday, July 22 to Sunday, July 26. The production is based on an Emmy-Award-winning BBC television series.
This version, called Walking with Dinosaurs — The Arena Spectacular comes two years after the acclaimed theatrical show had its Canadian premiere at Rexall, pulling in strong crowds.
Once again, 15 life-sized mechanical dinos will be featured, with a paleontologist/narrator taking the audience through a 90-minute journey during the 200-million-year reign of the giant prehistoric creatures.
Some of the dinosaurs weigh as much as 20 tonnes and look like they’re made of real dinosaur flesh. The hydraulic machines move realistically and are covered in materials that behave just like real muscles and skin.
Tickets go on sale next Friday through Ticketmaster. Ticket prices weren’t announced but ranged from $35 to $70 the last time.
